Some people think that water is just water. Our customers tell us every day they LOVE the crisp and refreshing taste of Jackson Springs Water. Our rich mineral profile provides a fresh taste and outstanding ability to satisfy thirst.

Award Winning Taste

Jackson Springs was awarded the prestigious Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting gold medal for “Best Tasting Water in the World.”

Health Benefits

Our water doesn't just taste good. It's good for you. Most consumers are not aware that most processed (distilled or reverse osmosis) waters have been stripped of all natural minerals and are acidic in nature.

Jackson Springs™ is 100% natural Canadian spring water with an alkaline pH of 8.1 and a rich mineral profile as recommended by the World Health Organization.

The Source

The water is sourced from a private natural aquifer secluded in the heart of three protected provincial forests in Manitoba, Canada.

The aquifer is remnants of the last ice age and over 13,000 years old. The water is naturally filtered through the rocky Canadian terrain. The natural filtration provides a rich mineral profile, alkaline pH, and the award winning taste our customers love.

Bottled waters aren’t created equal.

Joanne Holt thought she was doing everything right when it came to her health. The 46-year-old personal trainer worked out regularly, had healthy eating habits and took recommended doses of vitamin C, D and B, in addition to magnesium and fish oil. So why did she feel so run down?

“I felt depleted,” she says. “And I wasn’t sleeping well, either.” Turns out, Holt was drinking the wrong water.

Like many Winnipeggers, Holt was purchasing bottled distilled water from a major water supplier in the city thinking it was a healthier option than tap water. What she didn’t realize was that her water was stripped of trace minerals such as calcium and magnesium, and, in turn, was putting her health at risk.

WHAT’S IN – OR OUT – OF OUR WATER

North Americans have adopted the culture of drinking bottled water as a healthier way of living. It’s this notion that the bottled variety is superior to that of tap water that has grown the bottled water business to a tune of $5.7 billion US. And although, in many cases, this is true, what many Canadians don’t know is that not all bottled water is created equal.

Many companies use reverse osmosis or distillation processes to remove lead and other contaminants to make tap water drinkable. However, in doing this, almost all of the water’s minerals are stripped away. What this means? Drinking it can cause more harm than good to your body.

In fact, according the World Health Organization, drinking low-mineral water can lead to major health risks including coronary heart disease, gastric ulcers and complications with pregnancy such as newborns afflicted with jaundice, anemia and even growth disorders.

This is why in its “Guidelines for Drinking Water,” the World Health Organization recommends drinking water that contains a moderate mineral profile of at least 250 parts per million.

MUST-HAVE MINERALS

“Having minerals in our water helps our body function,” says Wanda Andrews, nutritionist and owner of Nutritional Sciences in Winnipeg. “They give us energy, help us heal and support healthy immunity growth.”

Andrews says minerals, such as calcium, are especially important for women going through hormonal changes associated with menstruation, pregnancy and menopause.

“Women have more issues with calcium absorption because of hormonal changes,” she says. “During menopause, women also have higher cholesterol levels, and drinking water with fibre such as flax or psyllium husks can bring cholesterol levels down and act as a preventative to reduce cardiovascular disease.”

Moreover, magnesium, according to the World Health Organization, helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong.

And although these minerals can be found in the foods we eat, as well as in supplements, by drinking de-mineralized water, the benefits of doing so can be, well, washed away.

PUT SOME SPRING IN YOUR WATER

When searching for a mineral-rich water, look for the term ‘spring water’ on the label.

Spring water is defined by the Canadian Bottle Association as natural water which is collected from an underground source and is characterized by its purity at the source, its content of minerals and trace elements, including magnesium, calcium and potassium. According to The World Health Organization, the incidence of osteoporosis and heart diseases might be notably reduced by drinking waters

with reasonable concentrations of magnesium and calcium. However, the consumption of spring waters with high content of sodium may induce hypertension in some populations.

This is why Chris Garrick, owner of Jackson Springs Natural Premium Spring Water in Winnipeg, ensures his bottled spring water is sodium and fluoride free.

The water, which is sourced from an artesian spring located in the Sandilands Provincial Forest, southeast of Winnipeg, contains five times more magnesium and four times more calcium than any other bottled water in North America, and has also been awarded the Gold Medal by the Prestigious Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting as the “Best Tasting Water” in the world.

“We’re all about natural water,” says Garrick. “We take precautions to ensure our water is safe and includes healthy minerals. It’s the minerals that contribute to the taste and that’s what we’re known for.”

It’s the refreshing and smooth taste that has Holt’s whole family hooked on Jackson Springs Water – including the dog. “We are drinking so much more water than before,” she says. “I have my energy back and after I work out, I don’t feel like I’ve hit a brick wall anymore. And what I wasn’t expecting was the compliments I get now. People tell me by skin is much softer and clearer. So now I look as good as I feel.”

Rigorous standards ensure consumers receive high quality water

Jackson Springs Natural Premium Spring Water president Chris Garrick doesn’t believe in taking any shortcuts whatsoever.

In fact, he is uncompromising in his efforts to make sure that his  customers receive the highest quality water possible.

“I am selling you water as if my own son is drinking from that water jug,” says Garrick.  Jackson Springs, a family-owned business, controls everything from the ground to your kitchen table. “We do not cut corners” says vice president Laryssa Semchyshyn-Garrick.

“We own the award winning water source, the stainless steel tanker that transports the water, the state of the art processing plant, and the brand name, Jackson SpringsTM. Our spring water is transported by a specially trained and certified driver in our 36,000 litre stainless steel tanker, two to three times per week.  Our natural spring water is always fresh,” says Garrick. “If you receive water today, it was likely bottled yesterday.”

Overseeing operations at the bottling facility is plant manager Dennis Leblanc, who is a certified water expert with 15 years experience in the business. “He is one of the best people in the industry,” says Garrick.

Chemical-free process

Although the spring water is safe to drink directly from the source, it is nevertheless treated naturally to ensure that it is.Initially, the water is exposed to ultraviolet light and then treated with ozone.

Ozone is the most powerful and safest water sanitizer on the market today. “Ozone is electrically charged oxygen,” explains Garrick. “It’s nature’s disinfectant”. These two processes ensure that the water is 100% safe but does not remove the essential minerals. Their water is tested in house and also at an independent laboratory.

water ozone

Processing of the refillable water bottles is also a stringent procedure. The three- and fiv egallon water jugs are repeatedly inspected and, if they fail to meet standards that even include aesthetic appearance, they are recycled. Bottles passing inspection are washed and sterilized using environmentally friendly solutions.  No bleaches or aggressive solutions are used.

Garrick is so particular about the quality of his product that he won’t accept competitors’ jugs. “It’s unfortunate that some companies do not even sterilize their jugs or do it properly”, says Garrick.

“We take great pride in the cleanliness of our facility. We won’t sell you a jug that we would not drink out of ourselves.”

And finally, the water is ready for distribution. “We deliver six days a week throughout the city and surrounding bedroom communities on a call today, deliver tomorrow basis,” explains Garrick. “Customers simply leave out their empties and full ones are left in their place when they get home.”

We also have distributors in Selkirk, Pilot Mound and in the Winkler Morden areas of the Province.

Do you drink distilled water in hopes of improving your health?

For those of you not familiar with distillation, it’s a process by which water is boiled, evaporated, and then the vapor is condensed to form a water that is free of any dissolved minerals. As a result it is believed to have the special property of being able to pull foreign substances and toxic materials out of the body and eliminate them. If you routinely perform this classic ritual of drinking distilled water, I have two words for you:
Stop it.

Here are the facts. Distilled water is dead, unstructured water so foreign to the body that one actually gets a temporary high white blood cell count after drinking it. The longer you drink distilled water, the greater the risk you run of developing multiple mineral deficiencies as well as placing your body into an acidic state.

If you drink distilled water exclusively, you definitely increase your risk of high blood pressure, heartbeat irregularities and muscle cramping. In fact, if you’re an athlete, you should never drink distilled water because it can quickly rob you of your valuable electrolytes: calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium.

Another common occurrence that long-term drinkers of distilled water can experience is thinning hair or the hair actually falling out altogether. Now that’s not too cool because we know from nutrition that thinning hair is a result of mineral deficiencies. Interestingly enough, this display reverses as soon as these people stop drinking the distilled water.
Like the water itself, distilled water is a dead issue.

Are you struggling to decide which type of water to drink for maximum health benefits? - What the Experts Say

We prefer to quote 3rd party authorities in the field to help you make an educated choice on the water you drink and provide your family.

Low-mineral drinking water may be a risk factor for hypertension and coronary heart disease, gastric and duodenal ulcers, chronic gastritis, goitre, pregnancy complications and several complications in newborns and infants, including jaundice, anemia, fractures and growth disorders” - The World Health Organization

Chris Garrick knows what our international public health agency and other experts have known for more than a decade: Drinking water without essential minerals can be detrimental to our health. So since the World Health Organization released its startling 22-page report on the health risks associated with drinking demineralized water, the well-informed owner of Jackson Springs Natural Spring Water has been providing Winnipeggers with a healthy alternative to municipal tap water.

“There’s a lot of deception that goes on in the water business,” says Garrick, a former competitive bodybuilder who opened his 9,000-square-foot water bottling facility on Keewatin Street nine years ago. “In essence, many of us are spending thousands of dollars every year on nothing more than tap water that has been filtered by reverse osmosis or steamed distillation to remove chemicals and additives such as chlorine, fluoride, orthophosphate, trihalomethanes, cryptosporidia and Guardia. And as a result, we’re ingesting little or no essential minerals, whatsoever, and the water in most cases, is acidic. I feel that people are being misled and need to be told the truth. An educated consumer is our best customer,” says Garrick, 55. “If you demineralize water, you will demineralize the body.”

Indeed, The World Health Organization recommends in its Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality report that all drinking water should contain a minimum level of certain essential minerals. In other words, we should all be enjoying a fresh-tasting H2O that has a “moderate mineral profile” of about 250 parts per million. Garrick says his sodium-free, fluoride-free natural spring water, which flows freely from a company-owned source in the Sandilands Provincial Forrest near Buffalo Point, has an impressive mineral profile of 238 parts per million. “We’re only 12 points shy of being perfect,” he says, adding his tasty, prize-winning natural spring water also contains four times more calcium and five times more magnesium than any bottled water in North America, and has an alkaline pH of 8.1. Moreover, it represents less than two per cent of the world’s water supply that can be ingested right from the source with no form of treatment whatsoever.

“Although our water is ideal right from the source, it is lab tested to ensure that it is safe, and all of our refillable containers are properly sterilized between fills. There is nothing added, nothing removed,” says Garrick. “Our water doesn’t need to be cleaned up. It’s good to begin with. If you speak to any regular Jackson Springs customer, they will tell you that it’s the best water they have ever tasted and that they wouldn’t drink anything else. ”
